Amazing Grace

today was doing my quiet time and practicing for CF prayer meeting tomorrow...
the song one of my members chose was amazing grace.. and just felt like searching for the song on youtube... and i stop on this clip that talks about the origin of the song.. it was initially written by john newton... this is a modified version by chris tomlin... hope this clip will help us understand abit more of the beauty of god's grace... and as i was practicing earlier on... a soft presence of peace just comforted my heart despite all the hectic stuff goin on..

"Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)"

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine

wisdom

proverbs 9:10-11

'Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom,
Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgement,
Wisdom will multiply your days,
and add years to your life'

the book proverbs in the bible is truly words of wisdom of god.. teaching His people what to seek after in life... and in proverbs.. wisdom is emphasis throughout the whole book... this definitely shows how important wisdom is in our lives... instead of seeking for all the riches of the world, the Lord reminds us time after time... that wisdom is the one that will prolong our lives.. and they KEY to it is in the very 1st few words itself... Fear of the Lord... not goin to go too deep into it... just wanna share what the Lord has been speaking to me this few weeks...

have been working on the graduation song for form 6 students... the winners will have their song as the graduation song... i have been receiving different different responses from ppl, frenz, and some that are more well off in music... and it is actually a choice whether of not to listen to their opinion, requires much wisdom to know which opinion to take into account or just get blown away by all the negative comments... i guess there is where it comes where the knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgement...

i received comments like the song was boring, noob chord progression, noob melody, can sleep la... not interesting enough... well, what can i say... although i know music... but this is the 1st time im officially writing a song and i have only learned my guitar for a year? may not be as talented as some ppl out there but i felt i did try my best to write a song that will motivate the 6th formers, that was our theme... but i thank god for frenz that were kind enuf to say it in a nice way and gave constructive advice.. thanks Eugene, May Jet, Sam, Say Lin, Gavin and Sin Mun for the support...

Eugene, what u said in a way just lifted me up a lil that day... ' ask those fellows to write la if they think its so easy.. i bet you have put in effort to write the song ' haha... and May JEt, thanks for your creative ideas... now working on improving it... =) Gavin, i must say the lyrics are good la.. just that im not that good yet in writing melodies... honestly this is my 1st attempt and it has been quite awhile that i m so nt confident... =(

just thinking bout what has happen these few days... i was wondering how was i able to do the things i can do today is because there were people who was there to support and encourage, not to rebuke and condemn... the old fashion way is to scold the fellow for making mistakes.. and i think 1 mistake many many leaders make is that they always expect people under them to give the same results... its totally WRONG! the reason one is placed above another is to lead that someone, hoping that one day he or she can be as good as u... it is then u have done ur job well...

i just wanna give thanks to my youth leaders, especially A. Esther, and Unc Cheow Leong, my dad and CF teacher Mr Khong... i remember those times when i 1st started doin certain stuffs like... being game master of youth camps, choreographing body and hand mimes, lead worship, play guitar, conducting photo taking sessions, leading the Cf and so many more experiences.. if not for this ppls love to care for me and give me support i think i would not have been able to achieve so much til now... i was as uncertain as i was when writing this song during those 1st time experiences.. and from this i actually learn something really important...

there will be a handful of ppl that are able to persevere on, try thousands of times and still do well... but most ppl.. i mean most ppl.. would not have the confidence to try certain things... and when ppl around encourage them little by little, giving advice how to improve... u'll be surprise that the person could actually grow to become someone that is good in that something he once was so noob in... bt if the person was condemn since the 1st attempt, not given any room for mistakes.. i wonder how many can actually stand up and do better the next round... mayb there are ppl out there that i dunno about.. as for me.. i know im not that type... and i owe it to those ppl, during times when ppl see this ming sheng as someone not likeable, cant do anything... because of their faith in me, and love they poured because of Jesus, i am who i am today...

Happy Birthday Yun Foong!

happy birthday and all the best to this 2 this young to be 'couples' ! both are so freaking shy! sze kie... doesnt seem like u at all.. lol... shy?

will you sell ur savior for a quarter?

i'm sure you ppl recieve lots of forwarded messages... and tons of it suggest that you too, forward it to other ppl.. well i find this method not so effective as ppl may be fed up of all this.. but instead if u blog bout it.. ppl might just stay by to read the whole thing? and thats what im gonna do nw.. =) got this lovely reminder from a friend that i felt is worth ur time to read!

Several years ago, a preacher from out-of-state accepted a call to a church inHouston Texas .
Some weeks after he arrived, he had an occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him a quarter too much change. As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, 'You'd better give the quarter back. It would be wrong to keep it.' Then he thought, 'Oh, forget it, it's only a quarter. Who would worry about this little amount? Anyway, the bus company gets too much fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a 'gift from God' and keep quiet.'

When his stop came, he paused momentarily at the door, and then he handed the quarter to the driver and said, 'Here, you gave me too much change '

The driver, with a smile, replied, 'Aren't you the new preacher in town?'

'Yes' he replied..

'Well, I have been thinking a lot lately about going somewhere to worship. I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you too much change. I'll see you at
church on Sunday.'

When the preacher stepped off of the bus, he literally grabbed the nearest light pole, held on, and said, 'Oh God, I almost sold your Son for a quarter.'

Our lives are the only Bible some people will ever read.
This is a really scary example of how much people watch us as Christians, and will put us to the test! Always be on guard -- and remember -- You carry the name of Christ on your shoulders when you call yourself ' Christian ..'

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

GIve Thanks

feel so much better now after playing some guitar and complaining to my buddy... ever since all my frenz left for collage and uni.. never really had a fren that i could actually share my problems with and to hang out... just wanna thank god for my buddy today that was sensitive enuf to come talk to me.. XD despite far distance.. we are still near at heart! and also thank god for blessing me with a new friend through blogging, that in many ways we seem to face the same thing.. sometimes its just a relieve to know that someone actually understands ur condition and is going through the same thing... i guess i can only hope for the best.. gonna retake my MUET...

i remember that time i prayed 'lord i will praise you no matter what the result'... i guess this is gods test of whether i really mean what i say? well i shall choose to thank him despite the band 4! who knows he will bless me with band6 this yr end! yeeeehah!

giving thanks just lifts a person up!

muet results

got the official letter today for MUET test.. if u ppl dont know what is that.. it is the MalaysiaUniversity English Test.. u know what.. i got a freaking band 4! i was like ..... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... anyway i handled it pretty well.. unlike some of my classmates that broke down... swt... the only thing i did was crumble my paper.. lol..

let me explain a little bout the point system... there is band 1 to 6.. which 5 and 6 is considered good... there are 4 sections, writing, reading, speaking and listening... writing contributes 90 marks, reading-120, speaking-45, listening-45 accumulating a total of 300marks.. a band 6 is 259-300, band 5 is 220-258... guess what i got?

219! 1 more mark!

holy crap.. lucky me... i scored pretty well in all other sections except my writing... i got band 6 for listening, band 5 for both reading and speaking... but my writing.. wtf??!! band3? according to my teacher i wrote out of topic.. but until now i look at the question i still feel i answered it correctly.. darn stupid malaysian education system, they didnt specify what they wanted and expect me to know what they want? please ppl give me ur opinion on this... are they really crap or is it me that is actually that dumb to interpret the question wrongly?

heres the question:
information and communications technology (ICT) is the cause of today's many social ills.
what is your opinion? support your answers with examples. you should write at least 350 words

my approach to this question is no, ICT doesnt cause social ills instead improves ppl's social interaction... please enlighten me...

Being hardworking is an asset

counting down 1 1/2 months til trial... yet im still not as hardworking as im suppose to be..
haiz... i dunno y when it comes to serving in church or doing co-curriculum stuff i am just so enthusiastic, no matter how tough it would be, i would always find a way to solve it... no problem seems to be a problem.. i guess i just have a positive attitude when i do the things i like?

there's a saying:
a pessimist sees opportunities as a problem,
but an optimist sees problems as an opportunity!

i really pray with my whole heart la that i will have the same attitude as i have when i do all other things except study... haih... how nice would it be if the subjects i study are about video making, event organising, public speaking.. etc.. science subjects are not my strength, anyway since im already in this, y nt just do my best to get those A's!!! those who are reading.. if u are christian.. plz kindly include my in ur prayers! thank you in advance.. XD

even as i look at my life... i just came up with this philosophy... ppl like to say 'IF' i was hardworking, i could have done as good as him/her.. 'IF' i wasnt lazy, 'IF' this and 'IF' that... when u think about it, it is actually an excuse for their failure... i realise that being hardworking itself is an asset... not everyone can be hardworking.. to be hardworking itself takes much discipline, perseverence, constant practice and it does not come over night.. ask any lazy fellow out there, if they wanted to be hardworking all of a sudden, can they do it overnight? definitely no... even if yes probably they are doing last minute work...

well, my birthday is just 4 days away... i guess my one prayer that i really hope god will answer is to help me to be hardworking! besides i know its gonna be good for me in the future... anyway MUET results are gonna be out in an hours time... all the best to all form 6 students!

u fellows can sms to this at 12.01am 13th july.. type MUET space IC to 36363..

being hardworking doesnt come naturally,
it comes with much discipline!

transformers 2 vs darkknight

vs

just watched transformers today and i found it much nicer and interesting compared to the 1st movie... the action and plot was definitely more fascinating not to mention more hot chicks.. XD this is the best movie i've watched for this year... thinking of that i realise those great movies are released in july? @_@ last year was dark knight and this year transformers 2..

so i took some time to analyse both this movies... i rate this 2 movies base on
1. plot
2. action
3. values
4. acting qualities
5. picture quality

lets take a look at transformers... i would say this times success would mainly come from the director.. being able to bring out the excitement from the start of the show til the end... seldom get shows of such kind... plot was pretty good... leading u to understand one thing to another.. i like the fact that even for those that have not watched transformers 1 or seen the cartoon or comic, the director and script writer has done a good job in getting people to understand the whole story... 2nd, the action if just fantastic... u can say almost the entire show is filled with action with some funny parts here and there... 3rd, well i can say one thing in this show that i learned is never give up! at times it may seem so impossible for something to happen, our main star sam, the word 'if' doesnt pop up from this mind, only the word 'can' exist in his dictionary..
4th, bout the acting i would say is pretty normal except that i like the 2 new guys in the show they were really funny! 5th, picture quality wise, just love it when the robots transform and the details put into each robot, especially the decepticons, u can see so much variation and fine details.. great job to transformers! bravo.. myself would rate this show 4.5/5

now lets look at dark knight... it was a hit last year... especially with heath ledgers exceptionally good acting skills... he totally got into the character that it looked as though it was him... mayb that was the reason that cause him to go nuts.. XD 1. talking bout plot, this show is top class.. from the start to the end, surprises just keep popping up, u would never expect the show to move on as u think... thanks to the great joker that really spiced up the entire show... 2. action, well it may be as much as transformers but i would say it is unique in its own way, especially the parts where joker did his crime.. man, he is one crazy guy... 3. values, there is something in this show that really caught my attention. in the end batman shows what a true hero really means.. a true hero doesnt have to be the famous one, does not have to be in the lime light and the focus would always remain to finish his or her duty... just to give some background, batman took the blame for our twoface, or the famous lawyer, harvey dent who put many criminals to jail. if harvey dent were to be found guilty, all that had been put to jail by him will be released.. so instead batman took the blame

from hero

to zero

4. acting skills... no doubt heath ledger's acting skills are top class.. he earned himself best villian for numerous awards... 5. picture quality.. well may not be as detailed and nice as transformer but it doesnt matter.. it is good enough for the show.. for this movie... i give 5/5!
best thing about this show is 1 phrase i guess everyone knows...

verdict: dark knight beats transformers 2!

do share your opinions... we all have different taste on movies! my preference would be more on plot, acting skills and values...

what is your purpose on earth?

Rick Warren author of the Purpose Driven Life .He said the prayer during the inaugural ceremony of Barack Obama as President of USA.

Rick Warren

You will enjoy the new insights that Rick Warren has, with his wife now having cancer and him having 'wealth' from the book sales. 'Purpose Driven Life ' author and pastor of Saddleback
Church in California

In the interview by Paul Bradshaw with Rick Warren, Rick said:

People ask me, What is the purpose of life?

And Rick Warren respond:
In a nutshell, life is preparation for eternity. We were not made to last forever, and God wants us to be with Him in Heaven.

One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body-- but not the end of me.

I may live 60 to 100 years on earth, but I am going to spend trillions of years in eternity. This is the warm-up act - the dress rehearsal. God wants us to practice on earth what we will do forever in eternity.

We were made by God and for God, and until you figure that out, life isn't going to make sense.

Life is a series of problems: Either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one, or you're getting ready to go into another one.

The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character than your comfort;
God is more interested in making your life holy than He is in making your life happy.

We can be reasonably happy here on earth, but that's not the goal of life.
The goal is to grow in character.

This past year has been the greatest year of my life but also the toughest, with my wife, Kay, getting cancer.
I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a dark time, then you go to the mountaintop, back and forth. I don't believe that anymore.

Rather than life being hills and valleys, I believe that it's kind of like two rails on a railroad track, and at all times you have something good and something bad in your life
.

No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on.
And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for..

You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems:
If you focus on your problems, you're going into self-centeredness, which is my problem, my issues, my pain.' But one of the easiest ways to get rid of pain is to get your focus off yourself and onto God and others.

We discovered quickly that in spite of the prayers of hundreds of thousands of people, God was not going to heal Kay or make it easy for her- It has been very difficult for her, and yet God has strengthened her character, given her a ministry of helping other people, given her a testimony, drawn her closer to Him and to people
.

You have to learn to deal with both the good and the bad of life.
Actually, sometimes learning to deal with the good is harder. For instance, this past year, all of a sudden, when the book sold 15 million copies, it made me instantly very wealthy. It also brought a lot of notoriety that I had never had to deal with before. I don't think God gives you money or notoriety for your own ego or for you to live a life of ease..

So I began to ask God what He wanted me to do with this money, notoriety and influence. He gave me two different passages that helped me decide what to do, II Corinthians 9 and Psalm 72.

First,
in spite of all the money coming in, we would not change our lifestyle one bit.. We made no major purchases.

Second
, about midway through last year, I stopped taking a salary from the church.
Third,
we set up foundations to fund an initiative we call The Peace Plan to plant churches, equip leaders, assist the poor, care for the sick, and educate the next generation.

Fourth,
I added up all that the church had paid me in the 24 years since I started the church, and I gave it all back. It was liberating to be able to serve God for free.

We need to ask ourselves: Am I going to live for possessions? Popularity?

Am I going to be driven by pressures? Guilt? Bitterness? Materialism? Or am I going to be driven by God's purposes (for my life)?

When I get up in the morning, I sit on the side of my bed and say, God, if I don't get anything else done today, I want to know You more and love You better. God didn't put me on earth just to fulfill a to-do list.
He's more interested in what I am than what I do.
That's why we're called human beings, not human doings.

Happy moments, PRAISE GOD.

Difficult moments, SEEK GOD.

Quiet moments, WORSHIP GOD.

Painful moments, TRUST GOD.

Every moment, THANK GOD.
